SHATTERED TRUST: THE SHARI KARNEY STORY (NBC-TVM 9/27/93)

Shari Karney (Melissa Gilbert), a Los Angeles lawyer whose work on a case involving a father’s alleged sexual abuse of his 3-year-old daughter dredges up Karney’s own tortured childhood memories. And these, in turn, lead to anxiety attacks, therapy, and the shattering confrontation with her parents. This TV-movie goes on to chronicle Karney’s growing dedication to the plight of incest victims, whose rights she champions on the legal front and in the political arena.
